How it Began:
I began my veterinary career as a child by bandaging, comforting and loving my family pets through a complex variety of made-up illnesses. As I matured, this innate calling never wavered. In 1994, I graduated from the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. For the next fifteen years, I worked in several excellent small animal practices as well as emergency medicine. I bandaged, comforted and loved my client's pets through a complex variety of very real illnesses, but there was a heartbreaking need that I just could not meet. The hospital environment was too sterile and fast paced to adequately provide a suitable environment for clients to grieve during the passing of their friends.
While searching my heart for career direction, I felt another clear calling. God led me to a place where I could finally address the great need that I was unable to meet in a hospital setting. He placed upon my heart a practice exclusively devoted to offering a loving, calm and comfortable parting.
Peaceful Passing was started in 2009 and became the first service in North Carolina to focus exclusively on the loving gift of home euthanasia.
